Students gain confidence in their ideas when verbalized and can draw upon those ideas in their writing. It’s natural, and students already know how to do it. It should be the FIRST thing done when diving into an assignment. Talking before even pre-writing is important.A silent classroom, or one filled with only the teacher’s voice is a detriment to learning (again, know when to shut up.) Students must have discourse.Talking and writing is a process of origination and creation.Four language processes: listening and talking (natural–1st order processes) and reading and writing (learned–2nd order processes).writing) is the most available means for composing (as opposed to composing math equations/formulas or composing music or dance).
